The overall goal of this conference is to bring together experts from a variety of disciplines and backgrounds who have a common interest in preventing terrorist attacks and criminal activity in ports, harbours, coastal waters, and inland waters around the world. Specifically, the conference goals are twofold:

1. While taking into account the realities of security providers, government policy, and business, advance new maritime technologies in:

  • Port protection
  • Counter-piracy
  • Counter-terrorism
  • Protection of critical infrastructure
  • Protection of high-profile events
  • Small boat monitoring and stopping
  • Protection of ships and energy platforms
  • Prevention of underwater intruders
  • Maritime interdiction, maritime surveillance, and information sharing

2. Stimulate multi-disciplinary thinking on topics such as:

  • Quantitative threat analyses
  • Communication of risk
  • Cost-benefit analyses
  • Quality and effectiveness metrics
  • Best practices
  • Table-top exercises
  • Integrated systems and their evaluation
  • Policy
  • Recommended way ahead
