Carrara Marble Quarries – half
day
A spectacular trip
with amazing views, driving through old tunnels dug out of the mountains for
the railway. A chance to visit three important
marble basins in the Apuan Alps: Colonnata, Fantiscritti, and Ravaccione.
Lunch in Colonnata to taste the local cuisine including the
famous DOP Lardo di Colonnata (pig fat seasoned in herbs in marble vats)
and the award-winning wines from the Apuan Alps.

Lucca City Tour and Wine Tasting – full day
Lucca
is one of the prettiest fortified cities in Italy and
is also the birthplace of Giacomo Puccini, one of Italy's
greatest opera composers. After a guided tour or a “self-catering” bike
tour and a little shopping, we will meet in the old cellars
of a historical Palace of Lucca to taste some local specialities.
After, we will take you to one of the best stocked Italian
wine cellars of Lucca to sample, with the help of a sommelier,
three of Tuscany's best wines: Chianti, Brunello di Montalcino,
and Bolgheri. The wines will be accompanied by Italian
cheeses, from mozzarella to the spicy gorgonzola.

Art and History in Pietrasanta – half day
We will take you to Pietrasanta, a
charming medieval town where Michelangelo once sculpted. Since then, Pietrasanta has been much loved by many
international artists, including Henry Moore, Mitoraj, and Botero. Today the town, also known as the
“little Athens”, is a centre for contemporary art. You will visit the workshops and see the process
involved in making a piece of sculpture in stone or a mosaic in marble. You will also see the various
stages in making a piece of sculpture including clay modelling, the preparation of plaster and wax moulds,
and the final bronze making at the foundry. To finish we will sip on an aperitivo in the cathedral square.

Florence: It Never Loses Its Charm – full day
We start at the corner of Via del
Parione and Via Tornabuoni for a coffee in one of the oldest and
most exclusive caffè-chocolate houses in Italy. Then we visit the Roberto Capucci Museum set in the Villa Bardini
with its magnificent gardens
and views of the city. Roberto Capucci’s extraordinary collection of over 400 works of art of contemporary
fashion have recently been moved to Florence from Rome and the museum was designed by architect Michele De Lucchi.
We'll have lunch at a restaurant with a long tradition in Florentine cuisine with a good selection of Tuscan
and Italian wines. We'll either finish with a guided visit to the Uffici Gallery or a visit to a shopping outlet,
The Mall, outside Florence.

Home Cooking: Fresh Pasta and More – half day
Learn
to make ravioli or tordelli as they are known in Versilia
and cannelloni with spinach and ricotta. Our short, entertaining
cooking lesson will teach you how to make the dough and
the stuffings. A hands-on class, you'll roll out the pasta,
cut it, fill it, and cook it. This class is, of course,
not without risks! However, our chefs will
always save the day and you'll enjoy a splendid three-course
lunch with other local specialities.
